When I began studying psychology at university in 1977 I was lucky enough to have met Lorena. After two years of friendship we became a couple. We met people who had been excluded by society and from then on our outlook on life changed. Today we share our lives with our children. Another wonderful gift! I spent over 20 years at the charity Hogar de Cristo and with other organizations for social justice. Now I make my home at America Solidaria. I am dedicated to the collective job of making this grand dream of integration and equality in the Americas a reality.

The people at America Solidaria inspire me and teach me that when working together solidarity is not a scarce resource but a chain reaction. This fills me with happiness.

Working with the poor made me realize that my own personal efforts can help those in need.  If you want to find me outside of the office, you can look for me on any dance floor where they are playing salsa or the tango, glued to a book, in a theater or anywhere there is art.

I am Javier, pursuer of dreams. I studied sociology in the hope of understanding the society in which we live so that I could help change the world. After several years in academia, I wanted to return to my first love. So I decided to focus my efforts on making the dream of solidarity in the Americas a dream for Uruguay. As a good Uruguayan, I like murga (carnival street theater), bitter yerba mate, politics and soccer. I am the father of Mariana, Martin and Santiago, who remind me everyday that kindness begins at home.

Hello everyone! I am Natalia Mamberto. I have a degree in sociology from the Universidad Católica del Uruguay. When the opportunity to help establish America Solidaria Uruguay presented itself, I had no doubts. This is yet another opportunity for me to become familiar with real life conditions in my country and our hemisphere. I enjoy meeting young people with the same interests and concerns and I have made a great group of friends. In my free time I like to cook and spend time with family and friends.
